JOSEPH CAVE PUBLIC EXHIBIT AT CAPITAL BANK DOWNTOWN

In a rare public exhibit of his paintings and etchings, Joseph Cave’s art will be shown in the Capital Bank headquarters lobby at 333 Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh, sponsored by Adam Cave Fine Art. An opening will be held with a reception on Friday evening, December 4th from 6 until 8 pm; the artist will be present.

For the first time in Raleigh, Cave’s paintings feature a select group of small, 8 x 10 inch landscapes in colorful egg tempura, a medium used extensively by the Dutch Masters. Of course, in addition to these smaller European and Southern scenes, many of Cave’s famous stylized oil paintings of North Carolina rural and urban locations and floral table settings are included in this large exhibit. His fresh flamboyant colors and impressionistic approach are a fusion of modern and traditional composition and subjects.

Some of the new, smaller works are from his extensive overseas tours of Portugal, where he lived for many years, as well as France and Italy. These compact paintings reflect the same moving skies and water for which he is known along with the brightly colorful buildings of European countrysides. Cave is one of the most recognized and popular painters in the Southeast and has been collected internationally for many years. His paintings can be found in many Raleigh homes as well as corporate settings.

Capital Bank is one of the area's largest supporters of the fine arts and performing arts here in Raleigh and across North Carolina. The bank has partnered with Adam Cave Fine Art and Nicole's Studio & Art Gallery to host six consecutive exhibits a year in their beautifully appointed public lobby in the heart of downtown Raleigh. Joseph Cave is represented by Adam Cave Fine Art; a gallery located a few blocks away at 115 ½ Hargett Street, 2nd floor. This opening reception at Capital Bank occurs simultaneously with that of the 2009 Invitational Print Show at the gallery from 6 until 9pm.
